Mining Index centre to be set up at Jharia 5 Apr, 2008, 1451 hrs IST, PTI DHANBAD: Jharia, famous for coal mandi (market centre) in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, would be the next mining price index centre. The national price index review committee, headed by G K Chaddha, member of the Prime Minister's economic consultant committee, inspected Jharia coal mandi and selected the site as one of the centre of price index. The review committee, which is collecting data from seven economic sectors of the industry selected Dhanbad as the mining centre for the study of miners and market. Jharia fulfilled the norms in price index with maximum labourers coming here to purchase, committee members said.
