Did you look at the vCards produced by libsynthesis? Can you paste one here?

BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:2.1

After some editing. Put minshow=5. Specified both empty phone numbers and
TEL_FLAGS:n but TEL_FLAGS is
being ignored if phone number is empty

I had a E90 as my main phone in 2007 myself, and of course synced it a lot, and
I had multiple tel numbers per entry. But I don't remember this kind of
problems. Maybe it was another software version of the phone, but more likely
there's some detail server side that makes the difference.
I can guess that You had separate PHONE:HOME:..., PHONE:WORK:... etc and no more than one of each. In that case all works OK on E90. The problem appears when there are for example 2 phone numbers of the same type. I understand that it is not completely normal situation, but we have some other system for which to provide also SyncML service and that system unfortunately does not provide phone number type at all (at least not yet - it is still in development)
