Category: Candidate >Group: None >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Steve Huston (srhuston) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Enter MAC addresses by hand Initial Comment: I think it would be handy for the "MAC Address Collection Tool" to allow you to enter MACs by hand instead of just scanning for them. For example, one of the clusters I'm setting up has a sticker on the front of each node giving its name, so I don't have to do any fancy tricks or plug in a console to see which one is 'asl3'. Currently to install this way, I have to power each node on, one-by-one, and wait for the MAC to be collected before moving to the next. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Sean Dague (sdague) Date: 2003-01-21 17:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=21949 This feature has been added to CVS by allowing one to load MAC addresses from a file. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Chase-Salerno (mchasal) Date: 2002-09-06 11:19 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=99742 Marking this future since its too late for 1.4 and I don't want it to get lost. Basically, the possible enhancement would be to integrate this function from SIS into the OSCAR wizard. We also should consider some sort of auto assignment when the user has a bunch of nodes and doesn't really care who's who. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Chase-Salerno (mchasal) Date: 2002-09-05 18:50 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=99742 This is possible using either the SIS command "mksimachine --Update" or the tksis gui. Its not directly available in the OSCAR wizard, but you can do what you want. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=359368&aid=605281&group_id=9368 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Scholarships for Techies!
