So there I was this morning, feeling good because my very new itanium machines were able to be built into an oscar cluster using a newly modified version of systemimager-ia64boot and a kernel_picker packager on steroids. Then I looked around and thought, gee, I have 3 other itanium machines sitting here, I should be able to use all 5 machines as a single cluster. Chortling as I thought of blasting through any remaining University SETI competition leaders ahead of me, I started an oscar install. But then cruel reality dashed my hopes, it turns out that the newer kernel/systemimager/kernel_picker that works great on my newest machines, crashes on my old faithful itanium 1 machines during the initial systemimager loading.

I am not a happy camper. I really would like to have an SIS that I can put any arbitrary kernel and modules in (yes I know that a few wierd things like cramfs need to be built in), and that I have the tools to build a compatible sis style ramdisk.
