Category: Packages Group: Future Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Jeff Squyres (jsquyres) Assigned to: Steven A. DuChene (sad) Summary: Bad requires in rrdtool-oscar-devel RPM Initial Comment: Trying to manually install the rrdtool-oscar-devel-1.0.35-2.i386.rpm shows that it requires "rrdtool", not "rrdtool-oscar" (the rrdtools RPM that comes with the ganglia OSCAR package is "rrdtool-oscar-1.0.35-2.i386.rpm). Hence, you can only install it with --nodeps. This does not affect the normal OSCAR installation since the devel RPM is not installed by default. But I needed to install it to rebuild the ganglia-monitor-core RPM with the -g flag to see WTF is going wrong with ganglia. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Jason Brechin (brechin) Date: 2003-03-06 15:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=274641 Since ganglia isn't included with OSCAR, should we remove this from the OSCAR tracker? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Steven A. DuChene (sad) Date: 2002-12-12 17:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=2347 I will try to get this fixed in the 2.1b3 tarball I hope be cutting soon. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Steven A. DuChene (sad) Date: 2002-12-10 06:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=2347 Yes, I have known about this requires problem for a while now. It has just been pretty low on my list of things to fix because of the two things you stated (it doesn't normally get installed during standard oscar install and you can over-ride the problem with the --nodeps flag). I will take a look at the rrdtool-oscar spec file to see what I have to alter to fix this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jeff Squyres (jsquyres) Date: 2002-12-10 05:48 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=11722 Please re-read my description. This only affects the rrdtool-oscar-devel RPM, which is not normally installed. I needed to install it so that I could re-build gmond with the -g flag. The rrdtool-oscar-devel RPM should depend on rrdtool-oscar, not rrdtool. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Steven A. DuChene (sad) Date: 2002-12-09 18:18 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=2347 The ganglia rpms work on the three systems I tested. One of which was the hp1.ncsa ia64 system. Not sure what you are running into. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109368&aid=650986&group_id=9368 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Etnus, makers of TotalView, The debugger for complex code.
