package/switcher/RPMS directory during the setup API call?  Then there's

copied to /tftpboot/rpms and installed.

compute nodes, but I think that's pretty safe for this version of OSCAR,

Yes... you'd probably want to do it at setup... I think that's before the RPM copy. If not, we can make sure setup is run before the RPM copy... that would solve most of these problems. There are functions that will return the distro, etc. of the server.
