I'd be much more in favor of the provides/requires solution. Indeed, this is exactly what Linux distro's do for the variety of mail servers that are available (e.g., sendmail, postfix, exim). All of those RPMs provide "smtpd". Then any other RPM that needs a mail server simple requires "smtpd" and any one of [sendmail, postfix, exim] RPMs will satisfy that requirement.
There's a little more hand-waving that goes on (e.g., you have to ensure that the command line interfaces are the same, yadda yadda yadda), but that's the gist of it. We have a simpler problem here -- we *do* have identical interfaces between PBS and Torque, so we don't even need to do any of the additional hand-waving.
Again, just my $0.07...

Another way (though ugly) is to have openpbs-maui (which we already have) and torque-maui packages.

Open PBS and Torque have the same interfaces, right? (commands and library APIs)
So I would just add a common "provides" in both the PBS and Torque RPMs, and then Maui will be happy either way.
This is assuming that Maui doesn't invoke any PBS/Torque commands, which, although I don't know much about Maui, seems to make sense (i.e., PBS/Torque invoke/use Maui, not the other way around).
Just my $0.02...

maui withHello,
Trying to install torque + maui on Fedora Core 2.
At the time of this writing, it is not possible to installthey providestorque because the maui package provided by OSCAR (maui-oscar) is build with openpbs and require openpbs.
It is not possible to install openpbs & torque RPMs assame package ?the same files.
Quick question : Is it possible to support both in therequesting openpbs
My first solution would be to build maui withoutnot sureor torque. Has someone already tried this ?
Is maui requesting the command line tools or any kind of library ?
The best solution : Make a virtual package (called oscar-queuing-system) that is provided by both openpbs (|client|server) and torque. However, given that torque will be the default choice, I'mit is worth the price (i.e. : recompiling pbs, torque, maui,) and I'mjudgementnot volunteering to do/maintain that ;-)
