Hello,
John branched tonight, and I cut 4.0b1 tarballs for testing. In keeping
with past releases, I've not posted the tarballs to SF.net yet, waiting for
24-hr burn-in. If it works ok, we'll post to SF.net.

PS There were a couple of hickups with the tag & an update to the branch
related to dist/VERSION and Makefile.am. I'll double check with the
svn gurus later.
