# Informal meeting to discuss Debian on OSCAR & FAI work

Attendees:
----------
 - Hugues Prisker (EDF/INRIA)
 - Geoffroy Vallee (U.Rien/INRIA/ORNL)
 - John, Thomas (ORNL)

NOTES:
------
 [FAI]
 - description based installer, similar to a KickStart mechanism
 - What config info is needed?S
     o MAC / IP / etc. to build => 'dhcpd.conf'
       [which we currently do using the 'mksidhcpdconfig' (sp?) SIS tool]
     o disk partition
       [which we currently do using the oscarsamples/*disk* files]
     o Network setting, e.g., resolv.conf, nsswitcher.conf, DNS, etc.
       [which we currently do using the networking pkg, etc.]
       [also we use getent so that should be goodness in this area]
 - Since using Debian, need to have a PackMan/DepMan module

[Misc] - After further discussion we realized that after we have a PackMan/DepMan module (which Geoffroy V. volunteered to look into) we could then push on looking at initial work using SIS/Debian and later changing out the actual 'IAT' (installer application thingy) to use "FAI" instead of "SIS".
