Hmmm.  I *always* do a custom install, and install anything that seems
relevant.  Is the "workstation" install documented?  If so, then RTFM to
me; otherwise, let's update the docs.  Having said that, I think this is
relevant for some README action, as that is more likely to be read than
a doc... 

I'm going over the details again, so that I can exactly document exactly
what needs to be done.
