Sorry -- gotta disagree here.

What's wrong with getting them out of the attic?

Version control systems have history for a purpose. You can always go back to a prior version to get old files that are deleted off the head. You can also get them from any of the tag/branch trees.

So I don't think that having another subdir with outdated files on the head of the trunk is a good idea.

Bernard / others,

I also thought that if folks wanted to keep the material around (not have
to dig out of "attic") then we could simply create a subdir under
"oscarsamples/". We could move these "deprecated" sample files to this
folder and just mark the folder as ".oscar_ignore".

This will enable the files to be easily viewable from SVN checkouts but
won't show up in distribution tarballs.

Anyway, food for thought.

Hey guys:

During the OSCAR Meeting, we decided to clean up the oscarsamples
directory, basically removing the old rpmlists for un-supported distros.
We agreed that supported distro = current version + 1 version back (of
the corresponding Linux distribution).

If nobody opposes, I will go ahead and delete the following rpmlists:

fedora-1-i386.rpmlist
mandrake-8.2-i386.rpmlist
mandrake-8.2-nox-i386.rpmlist
mandrake-9.0-i386.rpmlist
mandrake-9.0-nox-i386.rpmlist
mandrake-9.1-nox-i386.rpmlist
mandrake-9.2-nox-i586.rpmlist
mandrake-9.2-nox-nocompilers-i586.rpmlist
redhat-7.1-i386.rpmlist
redhat-7.2-i386.rpmlist
redhat-7.3-i386.rpmlist
redhat-7.3-nox-i386.rpmlist
redhat-8.0-i386.rpmlist

for suse-8.1-i586.rpmlist, I suggest we simply have SVN ignore it such
that the file will still be around when we can pursue SuSE support.

On a related note - how hard would it be to automatically detect update
version for RHEL? In that case, users do not need to manually choose
update2 or gold rpmlists.

Cheers,

Bernard
