Note, remember that the c3 RPMS use a require of "/usr/bin/python2", not
just Python >= 2.0. This is why there is a "python2-compat" RPM, for the
cases where Python2 is installed, but there is no "/usr/bin/python2" file
(in the RPM db, i.e., must be part of some RPM's file manifest).

This is what I found out:

Red Hat Linux 9: python-2.2.2-26
Fedora Core 2: python-2.3.3-6
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3: python-2.2.3-5 (from SRPMs from ftp)

c3 provided: python2-2.1.1-1

If Mandrake 10.0 provides python > 2.1.1 then I'd say we go ahead and
nuke these files.

Thanks,

Bernard

Well, iff (if and only if) the distro-supplied rpms are later
versions than oscar supplies.

I assume that the RPMs provided by c3 are only installed if
the system
does not come with it... (as was the case of RH < 9).

Cheers,

Bernard

Dave - the reason why I don't see it, is because I did not
install the
RPMs provided by c3, since FC2 comes with python2 already.
