By looking at the contents, you don't care if the user manually created individual files or symlinks, or if the tool created symlinks. As for what the tool itself creates, symlinks are usually easiest. You can see the prefix search during the pxe boot process on the client. I wrote a Webmin-based tool that did this stuff a couple of years ago, it's simple enough to handle everything that pxelinux will... -- David N.
