Hmmm...  I haven't thought about changing any networking settings (outside of Ganglia) - I would think that the changes should be self-contained.  I suppose I could try it, but it would be best if I can figure out the correct settings for gmond.conf.
 
Anyways, I'll see if I can get some help from Matt.

Unicast saves bandwidth but spoils the redundancy. Did you try setting the
route for the multicast target address through eth0?

That is not an option. eth1 is needed.
