Summary: sync_files can lock up cluster

Initial Comment:
We've encountered a serious problem with sync_files and
its predecessor sync_users: when the passwd, group,
shadow files are created by getent there is no check
whether the operation was successful. If the filesystem just
happens to be full the created files are empty. Eventually
these files are pushed to all cluster nodes which leads to a
cluster where nobody can log in any more (passwd file is
empty). Ssh doesn't work, either. Cluster is locked up.

Is this still a problem? Looks like this could be a
showstopper if it happens often. I haven't seen this
personally, can someone comment?

Should probably check to see if the shadow/passwd/group
files are non-zero before pushing to client nodes.
