Seems like I remember that some distros package syslinux and pxelinux
seperately. Perhaps there's a pxelinux package?

Bernard,

it's weird but I don't have pxelinux.0 installed with syslinux
(syslinux-1.76-18mdk.i586.rpm).
If I check in the SRPM, the file is in the sources, but it's not copied to the
disk.

Then I checked the RPM that comes with 2005 ( syslinux-1.76-17mdk.i586.rpm). I
installed it in 2006 and pxelinux.0 was there!!!

The diferences are not in the source, but in the spec file: they have ommited
the 'PXE PART' in 2006 (I don't know why). If I add this part to the spec file
and rebuild the package, it should work, but can be tricky. I tried using the
package from 2005 and it worked well.

So, what should I do: *rebuild the 2006 package* or *use the 2005 package*? In
both cases we will have to integrate the package to OSCAR.

Thanks,
Fernando

1)The setup script of perl-XML-Simple forces the use of a specific version of the rpm (2.14-2.1.el3.rf), which is a problem because Mandriva comes with its own rpm that is newer and works better than the one provided with OSCAR.

This will be fixed when Erich migrate the prereqs to be "generic-setup"
compatible, how is that going?

2)I don't know why but *pxelinux.0* is not under /usr/lib/syslinux (and I couldn't find it anywhere else), so the system fails in Step 6. I manually copied this file from another machine to be able to go on, but I will have to come back to this issue. Does anybody knows where this file come from? I would expect that it should be installed by the syslinux rpm, which was not the case.

pxelinux.0 is provided by the syslinux RPM on RHEL4:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] fc]# rpm -ql syslinux | grep pxelinux.0
/usr/lib/syslinux/pxelinux.0

Is syslinux RPM even installed on your system?

Cheers,

Bernard
