Title: [Oscar-devel] DIPC alpha2 for i386, Alpha, SPARC, and M68k
Hi Kamran:

I think the best way to get users to try your software is to create an OSCAR package for it.  Here's a link to the HOWTO:

http://oscar.openclustergroup.org/public/docs/devel/oscarpkg-howto_22jan04.pdf

Please feel free to ask us any questions here if you run into problems.

You may also need to take a look at the kernel_picker package as it relates to using different kernels on an OSCAR installation.  Geoffroy may have some advice for you since he has used it for his packages.

I would also encourage you to take a look at the Kerrighed/SSI-OSCAR project to see if there are any points you guys can collaborate together on.

Thanks!

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-devel] DIPC alpha2 for i386, Alpha, SPARC, and M68k

Hello all,

DIPC (Distributed IPC) is a system software that provides distributed access
to messages, semaphores, and shared memory segments. It can be used to
transparently exchange data between distributed applications.

The file http://www.cs.uwindsor.ca/~kamran/downloads/dipc-2.1-alpha2.tgz
contains new kernel files with all the functionality of the messages,
semaphores, and shared memories theoretically available (the kernel compiles
but no tests have been done).

Now there is (theoretical) support for m68k, sparc and alpha CPUs (in
addition to i386). Bringing back support for for MIPS and PPC is pending.

Any volunteers to test the system and probably port it to other
CPUs/architectures?

Pease let me know of the results If you tried DIPC. Thanks.

-Kamran
