Since we plan to cut another beta (b5) for 4.2.1, I propose
the following minor change such that CentOS 4.2+ and ScientificLinux 4.2+ can be
supported (RHEL4 Update 3 should be released soon...)
Basically the issue is with the
apitest package requiring "elementtree" but the elementtree RPM we provide with
the apitest package conflicts with the distro provided python-elementtree (in
CentOS and SL, but _not_ RHEL). The fix is as follows:
1) Rebuild apitest RPM (for
distro/rhel4) and change requires from elementtree -> python-elementtree (I
already have a i686 RPM and SRPM built)
2) Put these RPMs into the respective
location
3) Rebuild the elementtree RPM
provided in the apitest package and change the name to python-elementtree _or_
just use the ones from CentOS 4.2/ScientificLinux 4.2
4) x86_64 and ia64 RPMs will need to
be rebuilt as well
This is really a minor change if you
think about it, and is not too invasive - it is also just restricted to RHEL4
(and clones).
Cheers,
Bernard
