Now that we're using yum(e) as our RPM package manager, it should be possible to greatly simplify our rpmlist by using "groups" (which are defined by the Linux distribution).
This also does not require us to manually modify the rpmlist each time to support a new release version (provided that the group names stay the same). If it's not too difficult I'd like to implement this (but only as an optional feature). I think as a first step when createrepo is run it needs to be passed the comps.xml file which the user need to manually put on the system (or perhaps there is a web location which can be retrieved). Fernando, can you check to see if this functionality is supported in Mandriva? Nilesh, can you check for SuSE? Geoffroy, are there similar mechanisms for Debian?
