This topic was briefly discussed today (for those of us at the HPCS/OSCAR Symposium). It sounds like we have no problem assuming that everybody will use DHCP so I will take this assumption when I implement changes/fixes in the next little while.
Basically, I will take Erich's suggestion about automatically setting up DHCP Server upon pressing the "Enable Installation Mode" in the "Setup Networking" widget (this is a new button in the GUI I checked in recently).
Secondly, the following bug:

Will be fixed such that the dhcpd.conf will be re-generated after a node is deleted, and dhcpd will also be re-started automatically.
I think Brian mentioned that it may not be necessary to re-start dhcpd for configuration settings to take effect, but this may only be supported by a particular version of DHCP.
At any rate, I will implement the fixes as soon as I have access to a cluster for testing (which probably means when I get back home).
