So, I just got a cluster from Dell with a GigE support network and a Topspin
Infiniband network for low latency data transmission.

I am now going to put OSCAR on it and see if I can patch it back up to
working order before anyone starts shouting at me about it not being
"online".

My current plan is to deploy OSCAR over the GigE network (partially because
I am missing two IB cards still heh, one DOA and one that arrived the day
after the installers left) and then try and build up the IB network,
probably outside OSCAR for the moment. Redhat supports OpenIB so I will
just pull those packages down and include them in the node package list.
Then from my understanding all I should have to do is recompile open MPI
with infiniband support and I am good to go. Any thoughts on this approach?

OSCAR used to have a myrinet package which faded away a while back, is there
interest in my putting some time into integrating IB (probably via the Open
Fabrics Enterprise Distribution (the artist formerly known as OpenIB) and
open MPI) into OSCAR?

I am pursing this anyway, hopefully with some assistance from Dell, but I
thought I would see if folks thought it was of general interest. If anyone
is interested in helping out, thats great too, I have zero experience with
IB so I am sure I am going to make some silly mistakes the first time
through. There is a surprising (to me) lack of tutorials floating around
out there for IB...
