I did not speak about the official systemconfigurator version; for instance i 
have no clue who maintains Debian packahes. I was speaking about the OSCAR 
version. But your remark make me ask the following question: do you mean the 
oscar version was exactly the same than the "official" version? It seems 
weird to me since i had to do modifications in order to create Debian 
packages and you say that an up-to-date Debian package exists for the 
official systemconfigurator.

So the situation is not clear at all... back to my initial question: what does 
the merge of the two versions imply for the Debian package? If i do not have 
to maintain a Debian package, that's fine for me but i need to know, i still 
try to work on OoD.
