I guess it would depend quite a bit on if there were a significant
number of packages which needed benchmarking.  I think James and I
were working on the assumption that most "benchmark" packages would
not be installed unless you needed the benchmarking done.

If there are a notable number of benchmarking packages compared to the
total number of packages then it makes sense to change the package
structure (or add an optional piece more likely).

I am not sure if this addresses what you were thinking about Jean...
