Hi Milo,

It does not answer directly your question but we (actually Wesley is working 
on that) are currently working on a accurate and precise versioning mechanism 
for OSCAR packages.

It does not answer directly the problem of binary packages (RPM or Debs) but 
this part should be fixed with the next OSCAR package API proposed by Erich 
and implemented by Jean.

In summary, that should be addressed in the next releases of OSCAR. :-)
