I am using branch. I grabbed the fc-6-x86_64 out of trunk for the sole purpose
of pulling out the perl-Tk package (I didn't find it in fc-8-x86_64 or
rhel-5-x86_64 in branch, so I looked around for it in the Red Hat x86_64
variant tarballs in trunk). Everything except this 1 package was from branch.

Hi,

I am a little bit confused by your email: are you using the branch or
trunk?

For what i know, all the current efforts are on the 5.1 branch, i am the
only one to work on trunk. If you are really using trunk, i am about the
check-in a new bootstrap mechanism that should fix some of the problems
you point (in few days, the time to test it on centos5).
