Hey Geoff, Just a better error message, it doesn't really tell what's going on. I did get it installed using a remote repo, after cleaning up things a bit. I may have been pointing at the wrong part of the mirrored path, and an error message that said something like "I can't find repodata/repodata.xml in $URL" would be very cool.. Let me know if you have something that I can help with testing?
