It is a peculiarity with PBS and how it likes things named. I have some of this documented already at http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/Support As well as my experiences with using OFED, though I used the source. Just as a warning, when I installed OFED, it installed the ROCKS version of switcher (which I don't remember the name of at the moment) and messed up all my paths.
