Olivier, For what i know, the hostname is the full hostname including the domain whereas the name is the node name used in OSCAR. However, i am not one of the initial ODA developers, therefore i may be wrong.
Anyway, your patch, even if not perfect is still better than the current code so i just checked it in (r9079).
