As you said, SRPMS must be generated, and in fact, if using oscar-packager, no
one should need SRPMs. If you explicitly use SRPMS, you prevent any kind of
common development for both Debian and RPM based systems. We still have
references to SRPMs for historical reasons and i did not have the time to clean
everything up.

Also, please, remember: no SRPMs or tarball in SVN, we did this in the past and
that was creating many problems.

As far the placeholder for tarballs and "binaries", unfortunately, i cannot
give access to the server to anyone.
So i believe there are 2 options:
1/ we migrate all these files to a different server that is accessible to all
developers,
2/ we continue to use the server at ORNL and in such a case, I think the best
solution is for you to upload them on a server you can access to and write a
small script that does the sync (i can install that script here). I advice you
to use wget for the script in order to avoid any firewall craziness.

My 2 cents,

Objet: [Oscar-devel] RE : Doing many updates: please don't panic.

I think I've pushed most of my modifications to the svn tree (except a few
cosmetics stuffs I think.
I hope I missed nothing (except ganglia which is not yet ok(I'm using distro
ganglia, not oscar ganglia))

Though, this is not yet playable as
http://www.csm.ornl.gov/srt/downloads/oscar/ is missing many build materials
like jobmonarch-0.3.1.tar.gz torque-4.1.4.tar.gz cbench-1.2.2.tar.gz and many
other. I'll create the list tomorrow and put this list in my personal ftp ready
to be pushed to http://www.csm.ornl.gov/srt/downloads/oscar/ (or I'll create a
wget script to be run in this download dir)

Geoffroy, can you tell me if src.rpm pointed by all the
oscar/packages/<names>/SRPMS/<name>.cfg files must be uploaded too? (My 1st
view is that they can be generated in pkgsrc, so I assume that the answer is
no, but I also know that the build tree is not fully migrated to the latest
architecture (opkgs in pkgsrc), thus they may still be required. Any hints?

Best regards.

Olivier.

Hi DongInn,

Yes, I'm doing lots of commit, and there are many more to come (especially for
torque, maui and openmpi which are working great here). I just need to
crosscheck that we don't need nvidia stuff to build nvidia support in torque.
(so the rpm can be built and distributed without nvidia rpms which enduser must
build due to copyright restrictions)

As for the repository, there is no repo up to date to my knowledge. There is a
rhel6 testing repo, buty I think that it is not yet up to date.
Once I think all my commits are in the trunk, I'll ask to Geoffroy (or anybody
having access to the build robot) to trigger a build. I'll also list all
metarial that needs to be uploaded to the ftp (some src.rpm like apitest).

When doing my tests, I'm copying the tarballs and the src.rpm in the oscar
build source cache.

I'm also using a hand forged distro.url in /tftpboot so I can test that my
repos are ok befor updating urls in the trunk.
I'm also using epel and rpmforge repos for now, but at worse, we should be able
to copy required rpms to Oscar rpm repo I think.

Best regards.

PS: I've listed below my /tftpboot/*/*.url files that I am using. I overwrite
them after bootstrap to have more than one oscar repo. (just remove the lami
link which I left so you can see my setup). (I did the oposite of the comment
in the file ;-))

PPS: I think that the current trunk is unable to work as I've not yet pushed my
work on torque, maui, and such. You can give a try on basic stuffs, but don't
even think about openmpi or torque or maui, they won't build/work with the
updated oscar. There are also many tarballs and src.rpm not yet uploaded to the
ftp server, I still need to identify all those files so they can be uploaded at
the right place for the build.

Hi Olivier,

I have seen you doing a lot of commits recently. Great!

I am just trying to play with trunk on my RHEL6.3 box. Do we have any yum
repository to use for the OSCAR repository like RHEL5 one?
http://bison.csm.ornl.gov/repos/rhel-5-x86_64/

Any simple instructions for the head start would be really appreciated.

thanks a lot for your support, I hope that it'll end in a cool Oscar for

And I hope it's a new start for Oscar for the upcomming years.
It works on my systems, but the work is far from being finished as I'm pretty
sure that my config is not the generic case and we will discover bugs, but I'll
do my best to fix problems the best as I can.

Hi,

Dear developpers,

I'm backporting all my centos-6.3 fixes on oscar/trunk and oscar/pkgsrc. Please
don't worry if things are temporarily broken, everything shoul be ok before
next wednesday hopefully. (I'm carefull though no to break other distros
specific parts). I'm trying as well to have smooth upgrades (minimal breaks)
during that time.

Best regards.
