Dear Tom,

OSCAR 1.4 and 2.0 was succesfully installed on a cluster of
SE7500WV2 servers.
Your mail did the trick.

We would like to install the Intel Management Software on the
client nodes. Did you manage to do so ?

An openMosix kernel image was
also added as a client image.

Thanks,

ALex

Alex,

Here is a recipe that we have created to install OSCAR 1.4 and Red Hat 7.3
on the Intel dual Xeon(tm) processor system (SE7500WV2). Maybe this will
help.

Please note that you can get the tarball for the Intel e1000 driver from
support.intel.com under the networking software section.

As we mention in the recipe, Red hat somehow enumerates the NIC ports
backwards. We are using eth0 in the recipe which will be the upper port on
the connector on the Intel boards. If you are using a SuperMicro board I'm
not sure which one will work, but you only have two choices, so it should be
a short search.

I did not include the NAMD or Pmandel applications. The NAMD program and
its associated VMD human interface are on the University of Illinois web
site. Just use Google and search for NAMD to find them.

Subject: [Oscar-users] Anybody managed to install 1.4 on Intel 1U server
dual Xeon ?

Hi,

I am trying to install OSCAR 1.4 on 30 Intel 1U servers
with dual Gigabyte interfaces.

But, when the client connects via PXE it seems that the initial image does
not contain drivers for the Gigabit ethernet interface in the Intel server.

It is stuck after receiving the boot prompt.

Any help will be appreciated.

Alex
