Hi,

I'm wondering if anybody could shed a little light on a problem that I am having.

I am attempting to set up OSCAR as part of a university project and am having problems collecting the MAC addesses of the client(s) from step 3.

I have checked and dhcpd is functioning correctly but using tcpdump there appears to be no MAC address broadcast on the interface. Although the machines are definately connected since they can ping each other (when the node is booted into Linux).

The node does not support PXE booting so I have tried using the AutoInstall Floppy. Does this brodcast the MAC address at any point? This ends up saying that AutoInstall has failed (this is not surprising since the node has not been added yet!).

I am wondering what I am doing wrong, should I be booting the node in a different way? The NIC in the node is a SMC1255TX if this helps.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Craig Palmer
