We had this on our new P4 2Ghz boxes. The problem relates to using an SMP
kernel (defaul as of oscar-1.2) with UP boxes.  The _simplest_ fix is to
just add the UP kernel (eg. kernel-2.4.2-2.i386.rpm) to the sample.rpmlist
and rebuild the nodes.

They'll get the UP kernel by default and once they rebuild/reboot they'll
come up without a hitch.  Let us know if this doesn't fix things.
