The wizard cannot be run from outside an X environment, that's just how it
is.

The next version of OSCAR (what's in CVS now) includes a tool called
autoupdate with a wrapper, called cluster_update.  This makes it easier to
update packages such as rpm that have many dependencies.

I believe this is in the installation documentation, but I haven't looked
at the included install doc for a while (I write another one).
