Hi all

I have succesfully installed a 20 node cluster using OSCAR-1.4b11 and
RedHat-7.3. Everything works superficially (builtin tests for PBS, MAUI,
etc work), except for something which i can't understand. Ganglia only
seems to see nodes as up if I dump traffic onto the network, ie if tcpdump
-i eth1 (server cluster NIC) is running. as soon as tcpdump is turned off,
nodes start to die.
At first, we were using a 3com superstack, which had fancy onboard
software, and we thought we were filtering the multicast packets which
comprised the ganglia signal, but now we have a surecom switch, which has
no onboard software and we see the same problem. Well, one difference is
that with the 3Com, we couldn't collect MAC adresses (step 4) while with
the surecom we can.

Any ideas as to why ganglia is acting the way she does ?
thanks a lot,
