We have a small Mandrake 8.1 network up and running [limping?] but want to
turn it into a cluster. Yesterday we tried installing oscar-1.2.1rh72, and
didn't get as far as the wizard. The first error message said:
error: failed dependencies:
libpcap.so.0 is needed by tcpdump-3.6.2..... [etc]
There was also an error message about not locating Net/Netmask.pm .
According to the Mandrake website, libpcap.so.0 is supposed to be part of
one of the rmps that we did have right there where it was supposed to be.
This morning we decided to try the beta version of Oscar, oscar-1.3b4.
Again, it died before the wizard, with a different error message, this time
not finding a file for php-xml. I can run it again if you need the exact
wording on the error messages.
Any advice out there? We'd rather not give up and install RedHat instead of
Mandrake but we need the cluster up and running before the end of the month.
