Hi -

I have gotten myself into a mess I can't get out of - any help would be
appreciated. I wanted to have the nodes be able to resolve addresses in the
rest of the world for non cluster work. I did this by adding a resolve.conf
file in /etc. This seemed to work fine, except that now I am getting errors
when attempting to run the test_cluster script.

I now realize that there is probably a reason that the resolv.conf file
wasn't there! I just don't know how to fix it. I have removed the files
from the nodes, and am still getting the errors. If anyone could tell me

1) What this error means and how to correct it:

/usr/local/pbs/bin/pbsdsh: Event poll failed, error TM_ENOTCONNECTED
error 134557264 on spawn
error 134557264 on spawn
error 134557264 on spawn
error 134557264 on spawn
error 134557264 on spawn
error 134557264 on spawn
error 134557264 on spawn
/usr/local/pbs/bin/pbsdsh: Event poll failed, error TM_ENOTCONNECTED
I think this could be an issue w/ a broken /etc/hosts file. This is what I pulled from Jeff Squyres's previous post:

You might see multiple entires for
localhost in the /etc/hosts file on the compute nodes. One for 127.0.0.1
(this one is ok), and another with the private IP address of the head
node.
Check /etc/hosts on the server and nodes to make sure there's nothing weird about it. If you change it, be sure to restart all pbs_mom's and pbs_server before retesting.

And

2) How I should have had the nodes resolve external addresses correctly
[on head node]
cpush /etc/resolv.conf /etc/

I wonder why we're not doing that already...
anyway- hope that helps.

        Jeremy

I would be very grateful!

Thanks in advance - we (were - and will be again soon I hope) getting lots
of great use out of this software, so thanks for the efforts...

JAW
