I have several Athlon client nodes (all ECS all-in-one mobo's) running off of a P3 server. Would someone be willing to help me out with my Redhat 7.3 OSCAR installation? Specifically:
My public ethernet is setup as 192.168.0.205. That works fine.
My static ethernet is setup as 10.0.0.200. What should my gateway and broadcast be? (255.255.255.0 and ????). What would a suitable /etc/hosts look like for my server?
127.0.0.1 locahost
192.168.0.205 my-server
10.0.0.200 my-server oscar_server etc...
During the OSCAR installation, I can get all of the MAC address for my client boxes. They are mapped to 10.0.0.101, 10.0.0.102, etc. I made a boot-floppy as that mo-bo doesn't support network booting.
When I boot off of the floppy disk, I see "realtek ... ethernet" whiz by. I assume that the kernel (hopefully) has the correct module built into it. I wait the 35 seconds and then the DHCP search starts with a netmask of 255.255.255.255. Trouble is, it never finds my DHCP server.
I'd appreciate any help with coaching me through the installation.
thanks
logan
