You do not *need* to have mpiexec installed to run MPI jobs on an OSCAR
cluster. It is true that there are certain advantages that mpiexec
offers, but you can certainly use the "native" execution mechanisms of
both LAM/MPI and/or MPICH to run parallel jobs just fine.
The LAM/MPI and MPICH PBS test scripts in
packages/lam/testing/pbs_script.lam and
packages/mpich/testing/pbs_script.mpich both provide examples of how to
run MPI jobs under PBS.
