I'm not sure what you mean by that -- LAM shares much more than 1KB by
default.

The OSCAR LAM RPM's use LAM's usysv RPI, which automatically uses shared
memory between MPI processes on the same node.  Are you talking about
using shared memory in addition to MPI?

You might want to have a look at the RELEASE_NOTES file that ships with
LAM 6.5.x in OSCAR (/usr/share/doc/lam-oscar-6.5.x/RELEASE_NOTES).  It
talks about the shared memory usage in LAM, and how to increase the
default size of the shared area in LAM.  These mechanisms all involve
recompiling LAM, so you'll need the SRPM that you can get from OSCAR 1.4,
or compile LAM directly from source.
