Asif,

OSCAR currently uses the Red Hat Package (RPM) system for all software
installed on the system.  AFAIK, Slackware uses basic .tgz archives of the
software.  Therefore the basic software packaging facilities are not
compatible.

The currently "supported" Linux distributions for OSCAR are Red Hat &
Mandrake.  (There are efforts to support SuSE as well but that hasn't been
offically listed as "supported" yet.)
