I have a cluster of mixed nodes. Some have 2 cpu, some have 1 cpu. When I execute a MPI job I need to specify which systems I want to run on. So if I need 8 cpu, I specify qsub -l nodes=4:ppn=2 or qsub -l nodes=8:ppn=1. Is there a way I can say I need 8 available cpu, then it will determine which cpu are available? So it may run on the dual cpu, single cpu systems, or a mix of dual and single cpu.
Another thing I would like to specify is required disk space. I have my cluster setup so that each system has a /scratch filesystem. When jobs are executing, all work is done on /scratch. I would like to specify how much disk space needs to be free before pbs will assign a job to the node. So I want to tell pbs that I require 2GB free in /scratch before it runs on the node.
