No matter what or who your user accounts are meant to represent, the following procedure applies. I will assume you are using a fairly recent version of OSCAR (2.1 and above). The best way to add a user is the useradd command supplied in the distribution (on the headnode). Man pages are available on your system that describe how to use the utility if you need more assistance with that. Once the user is added (or any user information changed, such as password or shell), you can wait 15 minutes for the information to be automatically broadcast to the nodes using the C3 tools, or you can manually invoke a forced run of `/opt/opium/bin/sync_users --force`.
And the --force isn't even required if you just wish to catch what has changed since the last sync_users run.

How does the password file propagate to the clients? I should may be add that I am not planning to use PBS.
