Bernard,
I probably wasn't too clear in my explanation. While I apply the
updated RPM's to the image, I also apply them directly to the nodes with
a cexec rpm -Uvh ...., followed by a cexec lilo -v. Oh, I just
remembered, I also have to create a initrd file or two. Systemconfig
calls them sc-initrd-<release>.gz, which is different to RedHat
standard.
The update I do to the image is only to handle any new nodes that I may
need to create. I also replace the new RPM file in /tftpboot/rpm so any
new creations I do will pick it up. I haven't had any problems with the
image directory after this, provided the systemconfig.conf file I
mentioned is keep up to date, and I do a network reload of the whole
image (hence the earlier step of doing a cexec rpm to already configured
nodes).
How are you pushing the images out to the nodes? I've tried cpushimage
once, and it totally messed things up, mainly by not running the things
that systemconfigure does and deleting some of the essential files (e.g.
lilo.conf!).
