Hi-
I yanked the following from a previous post:
PBS and Maui both are very sensitive to the hosts file configuration. Here's the criteria that must be met:
Whatever hostname /bin/hostname returns MUST be on the same line as the cluster interface IP in the /etc/hosts file. It must also be the first occurrence of that name. (any other references to the same name must go below it)
The PBS server name is in /var/spool/pbs/servername on all nodes, and in the /var/spool/pbs/mom_priv/config file on all clients. Adjust files and restart services.
have a look and let me know-
Jeremy

Hi there.I have downloaded and installed OSCAR ver. 2.3 on linux box. I have followed the instructions and setup 2 client nodes. After Step 7(complete installation),which says is successful, the test step (step 8) fails. Here is the configuration of the the cluster:
Master node: 2 NICs.One nVidia on board NIC configured for outside world
with name lamda.*.*.* and is also the primary hostname. The second NIC is
a BC996B-T Gig NIC with static IP 192.168.1.1.
Initially the server_name was configured with lamda.*.*.* and with this
configuration "qmgr -c createnode node node03" returned "unauthorized
access". So I changed server_name to "server-lamda.cluster.*.*" (which is
the hostname for Gig NIC) and re-ran the Step 7. After with I was able to
add nodes but the following happened.
The slave nodes have been installed with same Gig NICS and using OSCAR.
During testing, the node03 and node04 (the slave nodes) which were free
during "pbsnodes -a" immediately go to down after the PVM via PBS test.
I am at a loss as to how to configure the server which has two NIC and
obviously has public nic's hostname as primary.
It woudl be great if someone could point how how to actually setup the PBS
in situations like this on both server and slave nodes. Thanks in advance
for the help.
Sincerely, Sarat.
