Thanks for the reply - I am quite new both at OSCAR and Linux, so I'm a bit
lost when you talk about kernel files and such.
But I can see that the initrd.img has to have the rigth drivers for the
ethernet card.

I tried to use the kernel/initrd combo at:
http://sponge.ncsa.uiuc.edu/~jenos/2650/, which was proposed by Jeremy, but
got the same result as you: Kernel Panic! (What the h... is that?)

I don't know where to go now - maybe the files you have are worth a try
