Title: oscar and redhat advanced server 2.1
We installed an OSCAR 2.1 cluster at http://ae-www.technion.ac.il/
It consists of 16 DL360s with RedHat 7.3 with the latest Linux kernel
and openMosix.

Today we would have installed OSCAR 3 with RH 9 and openMosix.

You need to use AS 2.1 to receive support for Oracle or
Oracle 9i RAC. But you certainly don't need RH AS for OSCAR.

Officially the DL360 G3 supports RH 8.0. But in any case, once you compile
a new kernel and add such features as openMosix and OSCAR you will probably
not receive software support from HP.

Bite the bullet, and install the system on RH 9 and OSCAR and offer your own
support contract, no one else will do it for you.

Good Luck,

Subject: [Oscar-users] oscar and redhat advanced server 2.1

Hi,

my sales people sold a 16 node hp proliant dl360 cluster (hp LC2016 model G).
Our presales people figured out, that hp supports only this distributions:
redhat 7.3
rh AS 2.1
and soon rh AS 3.0

So our customer bought the hardware + redhat AS 2.1
(3rd party applications in the cluster are fluent, flower, fastran)

My personal choice for the software environment was (is!) redhat 8.0, but
no one counts on this :(

Questions:

Is there a oscar version that 'supports' redhat advanced server 2.1?

Is there a installation allready runing with redhat advanced server 2.1?

ps. a test install with redhat 9 and oscar 3.0 was a smooth installation.

Thank you
