Thus spake eugene ([EMAIL PROTECTED]):
Hello again,
Seems what was missing was a localhosts default entry in my servers' hosts file. In my zelousness to get rid of all localhost entries, I had deleted it. Either this or the double entry of of the server hostname in the hosts file, I didnt check which. Cluster test setup has been completed and all tests passed succesfully.
I am a happy man.
Eugene
PS. If anyone is interested in how to get a system with RH9.0, SATA drives and/or Broadcom BCM5700 NIC drivers to work let me know and I'll post a howto to the list.
PPS. I have encountered another intermittent error when running systemconfigurator on the client during install. Sometimes (I think it is when the 2.4.20-8smp kernel rather than the plain 2.4.20-8 kernel is selected as the default boot kernel), the initrd image for the smp kernel fails during creation which in turn does nasty things when I try to boot the client. For some reason, the "VERSION" of the kernel is set to "1.1.3" instead of 2.4.20-8smp. Of course there is no /lib/modules/1.1.3 directory, so it falls over. Also the systemimager.conf file gets somewhat scrambled as well, with the default boot kernel label being truncated in an unpredictable fashion.
eugene wrote:Hi all,
Another step closer to a working Oscar Installation.
I have managed to get a client node up and running with all neccesary drivers in place and SATA drive converted back to IDE device.
Running the "Complete Cluster Setup" however produces the following error messages in the pbs section:
about to run /opt/oscar/packages/pbs/scripts/post_install for pbs

Now this is somewhat confusing to me, why is it making reference to localhost? There arent any localhosts to my knowledge. I am thinking this is a small issue compared to my past trials, but without knowing more about pbs and why and where it finds this Unknown Host, I cant move forward.
Thanks again to Jeremy, Bernard, Edgar, Frank and all the other folks who have helped me through this difficult time.
