If I type
[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# hostname
tempsurf.rice.edu

Which is our public name for the cluster

If I cat the hosts file I get
[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# cat /etc/hosts
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
128.42.245.211 tempsurf.rice.edu

I tried then adding
192.168.2.255 master.lup
To the host file and rebooting but I go the same error

One thing to check... Has the node got a hostname that's not "localhost"?
