Subject: RE: [Oscar-users] failed to create database for user Oscar (Problems installing OSCAR 3.0)

Interesting... on an existing cluster where I used a blank password and everything worked...
I tried entering a password when prompted. It bombed. I expected this, because my password to the DB should be blank, as it was when I started.
So I ran the wizard again, and this time used a blank password as I had originally. Here's what I didn't expect. It bombed... w/o even making it to the password prompt.
Neil-
any idea here?

I have tried a fresh install from Red Hat 9.0 cds and unfortunately I get the exact same error. Can some one please help. I'll restart the problem
1) I install stock Red Hat 9.0 from CDs
2) I configure both NICs
3) I copied all of the rpms to /tftpboot/rpm
4) I unzip / untar oscar 3.0
5) I run ./configure
6) I run make install
7) I cd to /opt/oscar and type ./install_cluster eth0
8) It asked me for a mysql password, I entered one

Hi Chris:
I am cc: ing oscar-users so that other users can also 'learn' from this experience.
You seem to be using a newer mysql version than the stock one which comes from RH9.0 (3.23.54)- I would really recommend you try to install OSCAR on a stock RH9.0 install before trying anything else to weed out any strange errors you might be encountering.
Cheers,
Bernard
