pfilter is simply another software package installed by oscar. To just turn it off, do this:
chkconfig pfilter off
service pfilter stop
cexec chkconfig pfilter off
cexec service pfilter stop
and then install whichever firewall you want to. If you add or delete nodes you may have to do the same set of commands to disable pfilter.
